(These feeding trials were conducted at the Foothills Wildlife Research Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado during December 1970 - January 1971.  It is during this time period that CWD was first observed in this facility, although it had not yet been identified as a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy. JW)  NEW

(This study was conducted at the Foothills Wildlife Research Facility in early 1972.  The study was designed to test how fawns and adult mule deer could withstand lengthy periods of starvation.  Out of 13 does and 13 fawns, one doe and four fawns died. JW)  NEW
