Subject: RE: ELK PROJECT AT NVSL - keys for access to B2

Dr Morgan - Thanks. I am assuming at some point in the not to distant future we will all (NVSL/NADC/CVB) have to be on the same page with risk assesment(?). My concerns are two-fold;
1) With NADC lowering the risk of prions, how do I explain to caretakers (who are already leary about the proposed changes to NADC protocols) and (2) What the animal care staff tells thier subsequent famalies and others they talk to, about the contradiction in risk assesment/protocols, without it, at the very LEAST appearing like NADC is taking unjustified risks (for instance: Those elk can be kept on bedding and drains sealed for another five years...BUT when those elk are brought to B5 at NADC, both in the future and in the past, to necropsy the CNS blood, some tissues, feces, etc are washed down the drain. What have you gained?).

Thanks again for helping me understand, so I in turn can explain it to my staff
